BILBAO’S LIBRARY NETWORK

Bilbao has a library network with at least one libray in each district. In these libraries, appart from books, newspapers, magazines… you can also check and take away music, movies, computer programmes, and some other stuff. You can check the catalogue online.

In local libraries, you can also get access to the internet, either via WIFI with your own computer, phone, etc. or with one of the computers they have for free use.

Libraries are open to everyone. Only in case you want to borrow something or use a computer they will ask you to show your user’s card, which you can get for free.

Libraries are also a good place to get info about activities, events, competitions… that are going to happen in Bilbao. This info may be found in leaflets and noticeboards.

Books can be borrowed for up to 15 days, and other material for 7 days. In the case of books, you can renew the loan 2 times, so in total up to 45 days with the same user’s card. You can renew loans online.

You can also ask for books that are in a library other than your usual one to be taken to your library where you will borrow it, so you don’t have to move to another one. This can be done online too.
